The Editorial Board of the journal is responsible for making a decision on publication relying on the credibility, scientific significance and relevance of the work under consideration.
The Editorial Board expects the authors submitting their manuscripts for publication in the journal to adhere to the following principles:
- bringing manuscript layout in accordance with the journal requirements;
- ensuring originality of the research (more than 80%);
- providing credible results of work;
- providing objective discussion of the research significance;
- recognition of other persons’ contribution, mandatory availability of references to the works used;
- providing information from confidential sources only upon permission thereof;
- providing information about all co-authors who have made a significant contribution to the research;
- approval of the final version of the manuscript by all the co-authors and their informed consent to its submission for publication;

Articles should correspond to the subject scope of the journal, meet international standards of scientific publications and be formatted in accordance with the established rules. All texts must be written in literary language, be edited and must conform to the scientific style of speech.
Incorrect selection and unreliability of facts, citations, statistical and other data, proper names, geographical names and other information provided by the authors may lead to rejection of the submitted material (including at the registration stage).
Submission of an article to the journal implies that the author expresses his/her consent to its publication, placement in the public domain on the official website of the journal, transmission of the text of the article (including references, bibliographic information, etc.) to the persons to whom provision of this information is mandatory, or to other persons for ensuring possibility of citation of the publication and increasing the citation index of an author and the journal.
The decision to publish the materials is made by the Editorial Board, which can accept it for publication, recommend the author to refine the article or reject the materials.
The Editorial Board reserves the right to make reductions and editorial corrections to the manuscript.
The copyright materials published in the journal reflect the private view of the authors, which may differ from the point of view of the Editorial Board.
All manuscripts are checked for plagiarism using customized software: Antiplagiat and iThenticate. If borrowings are found, a decision may be made to reject the manuscript depending on the clarified circumstances. Text similarity exceeding 15% is considered unacceptable and is the grounds for refusal in considering a manuscript. In case of significant and minor borrowings, the Editorial Office of the journal acts in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics.
The Editorial Office of the journal recommends the authors, before submitting a manuscript, to evaluate by themselves the uniqueness of the article materials using the specialized services https://www.antiplagiat.ru (for Russian-language texts) and http://www.plagiarism.org (for English-language texts).
Using extracts of borrowed text in a manuscript without reference to the original source is not allowed.
To publish an original article, the authors are requested to adhere to the following requirements for submission of materials to the Editorial Office:
- An article and all the data for an article should be included in one file and sent via the electronic Editorial Office of the journal. Initially, an author needs to register with the journal website as an author, and then register the publication. Registered authors get the opportunity to upload an article to the journal database on their own and subsequently track the status of their publications. The registration instructions are here.
- In the manuscript file, above article’s title, the type of an article (original empirical research, original theoretical research, scoping review, systematic review, meta-analysis, opinion article, perspective article, short message, methodological note) and Higher Attestation Commission science specialty code should be indicated.
- The Editor's corrections highlighted in colour in the article file sent for approval or correction must be saved, the author's corrections should also be highlighted in colour.
- When submitting an article to the journal, the author should provide ORCID. ORCID is an international identifier of authors, which contributes to the better distribution of the author's articles after publication. To get this ID, the author should register on the website https://orcid.org/register
The journal accepts original scientific articles in the Russian language, which correspond to the subject scope of the journal and present the results of the original scientific research of the authors. The optimal volume of an article is not less than 5 pages of typewritten text (3,000 - 7,000 words, list of references, figures and tables).
Review articles are formatted in the same way as the original research articles. The Editorial Office recommends a review article to be composed in compliance with the international recommendations for systematic literature search methods and standards. Abstracts of review articles should contain information on literature search methods in the following databases: Scopus, Web of Science, MedLine, The Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Global.health, CyberLeninka, Science Index (РИНЦ), and others. The title and keywords of review articles should include the word "review".
For detailed information on writing review articles, please refer to the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines, available at http://prisma-statement.org

Article layout rules (Empirical Research Article template)
When preparing an article for publication in the journal, the following provisions should be observed:
— specify the UDC;
— specify all authors of an article.
The “Russian Journal of Veterinary Pathology” defines the following criteria for authorship:
- significant contribution to the concept or design of the work, or to the collection, analysis, or interpretation of data;
- writing a manuscript or its critical revision to improve the content;
- approval of the final version of the article for publication.
The list of authors should not include the persons who are not the authors of an article. The names of persons who are not the authors but have provided other support should be listed in the “Acknowledgements” section.
In Russian, when indicating the authors of an article, the family name should be placed after the initials of the first and middle names (I.I. Ivanov, P.P. Petrov, V.V. Sidorov).
In English, when indicating the authors of an article, the following format should be observed: “first name, middle name initial, family name” (Ivan I. Ivanov, Petr P. Petrov). Family names in English must be indicated in accordance with their spelling in the ORCID ID, ResearcherID, foreign passport, or as they were indicated in previously published articles. If the author does not have an ORCID ID, ResearcherID, foreign passport and/or publications, the BSI standard must be used to transliterate the family name and first name.
— indicate affiliation of all the authors of an article. Affiliation should include the following data: full official name of an institution, full postal address (including zip code, city and country). The authors must indicate all places of work related to the conducted research.
If the authors from different institutions have participated in preparation of an article, it is necessary to specify affiliation of each author with respective institution using an upperscript.
For the English part of an article, the official English name of an institution is required.
The following information is provided in Russian and English languages:
— the Title of an article should briefly (no more than in 20 words) and accurately reflect the problem of an article without using abbreviations and formulas; it should be both informative and attractive, reflect the uniqueness of the author's scientific creativity;
— Initials and Family Names of the Authors (no more than 6 authors) are given with links to contact information (place of work (study) of the author(s), institution); city, country, e-mail, phone (upon authors’ wish); it is necessary to include the e-mail address of one of the authors (corresponding author) in the affiliation section, (when transliterating full names, the author must adhere to their uniform spelling in all articles).
— Abstract (200–300 words) should briefly state the purpose of the study, the main results and the main conclusions of the research (given both in Russian and English). The structure of the abstract should be as follows:
- Introduction states the scientific problem and objectives of the work. The relevance of the research and the gap in scientific knowledge inducing the research are described.
- Materials and Methods. The methods and techniques used, or procedures for obtaining scientific knowledge are presented.
- Results of the research are given briefly, the most significant results, attractive to the reader and the scientific community are described.
- Discussion and Conclusion. This section should briefly discuss the significance of the achieved results and evaluate the contribution of the research to science, as well as the possibility of applying its results in real practice.
— Keywords are a search tool of a scientific article. It is possible to search articles by keywords in all bibliographic databases. They should reflect the main provisions, achievements, findings, terminology of scientific research. The list of keywords can also include phrases of 2-3 words, but not more than 4 of such phrases. They are given both in Russian and English.
— Acknowledgements. In this section, the authors express their appreciation to colleagues for their help; their gratitude for the financial support of the study (see samples in Appendix 3).
All the above information, starting from the UDC to the Acknowledgements, should then be translated into English without fail!
The body of an article must be presented in Russian according to the IMRAD structure:
1) Introduction.
2) Materials and Methods.
3) Results.
4) Discussion and Conclusion.
These sections should be highlighted with appropriate subheadings and contain relevant information.
1) Introduction (1-2 pages) presents the statement of a scientific problem, its relevance, connection with the major objectives that need to be solved, emphasizes its significance for the development of a certain branch of science or practice. The Introduction should contain information that allows the reader to understand and evaluate the results of the research presented in the article. The author should first of all state the general theme of the research, identify the problems not solved in the previous studies, which this article is designated to solve. In addition, it expresses the main concept of the recearch, which significantly differs from the existing understanding of the problem, complements or deepens already known approaches to it. The attention is drawn to the introduction into scientific circulation of the new facts, conclusions, recommendations, and patterns. The objective of the article arises from the formulation of a scientific problem.
2) Materials and Methods (1-2 pages). This section describes the process of organizing the experiment, the methods and equipment used; provides detailed information about the object of research; indicates the sequence of the research, and justifies the selection of methods used (observation, survey, testing, experiment, laboratory experiment, analysis, modeling, etc.).
3) Results. In this part of the article, the author's systematized analytical and statistical material should be presented. The results of the conducted research should be described sufficiently fully, to enable the reader to trace its stages and assess the validity of the conclusions made by the author. This is the main section, which is designated to prove the hypothesis (hypotheses) under consideration.
If necessary, the results are confirmed by illustrations (tables, graphs, figures), which represent the source material or evidence in the compact form. It is important that the visual information does not duplicate the information already given in the text. It is desirable to compare the results presented in the article with the previous works of the author and other researchers in this field. Such a comparison can emphasize the novelty of the work done, increase its objectivity. The results of the research should be presented briefly, but contain enough information to evaluate the conclusions made. The selection of any particular data for the analysis should also be substantiated. All titles, captions and structural elements of graphs, tables, diagrams, etc., should be given both in Russian and English.
4) Discussion and Conclusion contains a brief statement of the research results. It summarizes in a condensed form the main ideas presented in the body of an article. Repetitions of the material presented should be rephrased. In this section, it is necessary to compare the obtained results to the objective of the research stated at the beginning of the work. The results of the topic comprehension are summarized; conclusions, generalizations and recommendations arising from the work are made; their practical significance is emphasized; and the main directions for further research in this area are determined. In the final part of the article, it is desirable to include attempts to forecast the development of the issues considered.
- The list of sources used (more than 20) is drawn up in accordance with the requirements adopted in the journal using the Vancouver citation style.
The list of references indicates only sources (articles, books, monographs, patents, dissertations, etc.) that have authorship. References to the anonymous electronic Internet sources, State standards, statistical reports, articles in socio-political newspapers and magazines, regulatory documents and other sources not signed by the authors are indicated in page-by-page footnotes and are not included in the list of references. Footnotes are numbered and placed page by page.
It is necessary to refer primarily to the original sources from scientific journals included in global citation indices. The percentage of sources published in the last 5 years should be at least 50%, percentage of foreign sources – at least 50%. It is highly undesirable to cite textbooks, guidelines, sources older than 10-15 years. When describing a source, its DOI should be specified as a direct URL link. The rules for designing the list of references and its sample can be viewed here.
The list of references is given in Russian and English in the section titled “Список литературы/References”
References to articles accepted for publication, but not yet published, must be marked with the words “to be printed”; authors must obtain written permission to refer to such documents and confirmation that they have been accepted for publication. Information from the unpublished sources should be marked with the words "unpublished data/documents", the authors must also obtain a written confirmation for using such materials.
- About the Authors. The section contains full family name, first name and patronymic name (if any) of the authors; position, official full name of the institution (it is required to specify all the places of work of the author where the research was carried out (permanent place, place of execution of the project, etc.)); detailed information about the authors: scientific degree, title, position, ORCID, ResearcherID, Scopus ID, e-mail address, contact phone number. The information is given in Russian and English languages.
- Claimed contributorship. At the end of a manuscript, the authors need to indicate the actual contribution of each co-author to the work performed. The procedure for specifying the authors and co-authors of the article is agreed by them at their own accord. The information is given in Russian and English languages. It is recommended to design this section in accordance with the CRediT system.
